Name

The name quadratic comes from "quad" which means squared, and a quadratic equation includes a square in the formula.

It is also called an "Equation of degree 2"  due to the fact that there is a 2 on top of the x.

Equation

The equation is in the form of                                     . This is the standard form of the quadratic equation. 

 

In this form, "a" cannot be 0, and "x" is the unknown variable.

 

Shape
